PPC Software
When you use pay per click advertising, do you generate profits for yourself, or do you just add to Google’s ever increasing bottom line ?
At dawn (sometimes before), across the globe many thousands leave their beds, do they dress first, perhaps visit the bathroom, no they head for their PC’s. First the Google home page, then ‘advertising programs’, followed by ‘Google Adwords’, followed by – disappointment as, once again, they discover the sales column empty and the cost one full !
The successful know all about Ad Grenade
For many they might as well be placing a bet on the 4 o’clock at the local racetrack because they are, in effect, gambling. They are, in effect, amateurs in a world where only those with a professional approach have any chance of surviving. The tragedy is that only about 10% of internet start-ups survive more than 90 days, which, to me indicates that the numbers unable to make PPC works must be roughly similar.
You will find, on my website and across the web, articles where I have gone into, in detail, keyword list creation and how to compose the ads themselves, but no room for that here. All I will refer back to is my belief in starting with large numbers of keywords and ads but remember, don’t even think about bidding on them all ! Far better, in my opinion, is to begin by having two hundred, or less, ad groups ‘live’ and slowly using more from your list when you have decided to close down some of those that are not producing sales.
For example I have had campaigns with more than five thousand ad groups, with a small number displayed on Google pages, and the rest ‘paused’ for when and if they are required. Having it all up in one go makes managing the whole thing easier but this approach has one very obvious, very large, problem, how is it possible for anyone to create a campaign of this size manually ?
In short, it isn’t, the only way around this seemingly impossible task is PPC software that is capable of creating the campaign in minutes, not days, and handing it over to Google Adwords Editor for loading into your Adwords account. I then set out to find if software existed that would do everything I (a hopeless techie) needed it to.
Two products appeared to be the PPC software I was looking for as they both claimed to be able to perform the following tasks.
- Handle keyword lists of any size
- Give every single keyword some sort of tracking code so I could figure out which produced sales and which should be ditched
- Could place two versions of an ad within every ad group so that I could see which performed best
- Make the keyword, where possible, the headline of the ad.
- Where the keyword was longer than Google’s maximum of 25 characters, substitute a default headline, automatically, that had been prepared in advance.
- ‘Explode’ the whole campaign so that it could be loaded directly into Google’s Adwords Editor in minutes without any fuss.
- Very clear tutorials and an excellent help desk
The first product I looked at was $399 and the second $147 and while I never like to pay more than I need to that big price gap might, I felt, mean a big quality gap.
I plumped for the less expensive one, I new if it was no good they would refund me under their no-nonsense guarantee. I had a keyword list ready to go so that I could try Ad Grenade out straight away and return it quickly if things didn’t work out, I never returned it, this hopeless techie was in PPC heaven.
Making real money online when PPC advertising is involved can only be achieved by tightly controlling large campaigns and that can only be realized by adding top quality PPC software to the mix. As someone who uses Ad Grenade for all my campaigns and can’t think how I could manage without it, I urge you to, at the very least, watch a demonstration of it in action.
