SEO tools, just where do you start?  When you first start out your internet business, pick a main keyword that will describe your site, then go out and make that your domain name.  You will find that you won’t have to work as hard to get your pages indexed for that particular keyword phrase.  Usually the more term a word is searched for the harder it is to get ranked for it.  Start off with the lower searched phrases first.

In the podcast interviews, I’ve learned that you don’t settle for just picking one or two keywords to use.  You’ll fail when it comes to search engine ranking.  What you want to do is to pick a variety of keywords that best tells others what your website is all about.  Then you focus on the areas which you are strong in.  For example, suppose you are number 5 on the first page, you just might have to write some articles and do some back linking to bump yourself up to the number one spot.  Keep an eye out for the pages that need the most work.

See when you say to yourself that you are only going to use just a few keywords, this is when SEO might not work for you.

I take care of many people’s websites.  I keep on top of the stats and let them know what is going on.  If you just widen the gap with the selection of your keyword phrases I’m sure you can find yourself ranking for tens, hundreds if not thousands of different keywords.  You don’t want to just rank for a few keywords; the more the better.  Work on building up your list of keyword phrases so you have a variety of searched terms.  This way you’ll bring in more traffic.

The more content you have on your website the better off you will be.  Search engines just love blogs and you will find that you can work all of the keyword phrases you want to use into your articles.

Why do you think ecommerce pages do so well?  You’re working with a lot of keywords that the search engines index.  This is one thing that has worked well for me.

When you have a lot of pages you can do lots of interlinking.  Don’t underestimate the power of linking to other pages that are on your website.  This is a tip that most people ignore.

I’ve heard that the search engines don’t rank websites that they only rank the pages.  If this is true then the more pages you have the more the spiders will be indexing your site.  Interlinking on your site is also a great way to let the search engines know what your pages are all about.  You pass down link value from one page to the next.  Now you know some of the SEO tools that I use.
