Let’s begin this SEO tip on the assumption that you’ve made a decision about a theme for your new site, and have done some research into the keywords and keyphrases that are associated with it.

Once you have drafted up your chosen list of keywords, and key phrases to target for your website, the next step is to find a suitable, relevant URL. Something relevant, catchy, memorable and importantly search engine friendly.

We’ve disovered an easy way to find a keyword-rich, search engine friendly domain name which will help greatly when it comes to Search Engine Optimisation.

An incredibly effective way to find your new URL is to use the www.GoDaddy.com bulk domain register tool which can be seen on the bulk domain register web page.

You can search for URLs by simply copying and pasting your keywords and keyword phrases into the domain form input box, and also your selected keyword phrases with the spaces replaced with ‘-’ (in notepad, choose ‘Replace’ then replace a ’space’ with ‘-’) for example thisismydomain and this-is-my-domain.

After you’ve done that, tick the three most popular extensions (com, net and org) and you’re done! (I personally wouldn’t choose any others if you’re after the most hits). You can search up to 500 keywords or keyword phrases at a time, and it’s an incredibly rapid process.

If your website topic is a highly competitive one, you may find that a lot of the domain names are already taken, and the website will let you know which ones have already gone. If you’re very fortunate you’ll be able to register a domain name which is also your main focus keyword or keyword phrase, and that will be very beneficial when it comes to ranking highly in the search engines!

If you arelooking for a more direct and personal way to interact with customers, instead of sending them to your company’s Facebook page or Twitter profile, what could be better than an entire site devoted solely to your brand?

Starting in 2010, that’s what you will be able to do Imagine your emails coming .your brand here. Or your emails coming from you.yourlastname! Will Apple launch a .mac community? Can your company create an engaging microsite on .your product name? Whether you are a consumer products reseller, technology company or healthcare organization you need to understand how this upcoming domain registration change will affect your company’s online technology marketing efforts.

ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) will be allowing customized top level domains starting sometime in 2010.  ICANN is instituting the change to allow more visibility and intuitiveness to domain names.  After all, what does a “.com” mean to most people?  A .nike would be much more intuitive. ICANN is reviewing its application process and will soon announce when in 2010 the customized top-level domains will be available.  However, it’s not going to be as easy as buying a .com or .org domain name.  The ICANN application process will require the following:

  • A business plan including a marketing plan covering how you will maintain and promote the domain over a 5-year period
  • Policy overview
  • Comprehensive documentation of community support (if the domain is for a community site)
  • A competent and stable technology provider for registry services and hosting

Custom domains are not going to be a minor or cheap undertaking for most companies.  It will demand a large budget and commitment to the project.  In order to apply to ICANN, you company is going to have first decide if a top-level custom domain is worth the effort.  Then you will have to get started immediately on the requirements listed above.

If you run a small business from home and you would like to establish a web-based home for the business or to revitalize your existing one, a world-class job is in order. Prospective buyers are going to evaluate you and your business based on the layout, design, and navigability of the web site. It will not be enough just to employ internet marketing tools to bring in targeted clients. You have to make sure your site finishes the job, and if you can, you want to discover ways to cause people to put your site in their favorites and visit often.

If you wish to have your website sell for you, consider the below tips.

1. Before registering a domain, find out about its past ownershim. Navigate to Archive.org, and type in the domain name you desire. This will allow you to view all the activities that have ever used that internet space. This is useful information, particularly if the domain has been used in the past relating to activities you would not want to be associated with.

2. Find a site name that tells useful informationa bout your business. In the best situation, people should be able to understand what your web site does just by glancing at your website address. Not everyone can be a billion-dollar company like eBay or Amazon who get by on simple recognition. Try to combine your company name with a phrase or a word {describing} what your business does. Later on, after your company has enough name recognition, you can then use only the company name, if you choose. For example, if your last name is Smith and you sell computer parts, register the website address smithcomputer parts.com. And after a couple of years, after your company gets bigger, you can then employ simply smith.com. Have patience, and you’ll get there.

3. Employ a up-to-date website design. Yes, it’s important to be unique, but you might learn useful information about establishing legitimacy for a website by looking at the web sites of popular companies. If you want, you can even use utterly different sorts of businesses’ sites as an example for your site. Check around on the internet, and take stock of what kinds of design elements are in style these days, and try not to be afraid to be fashionable with your site. If your website resembles a few of the major internet entities, this should tell your traffic that your business cares about being up-to-date.

4. Employ a lot of links to other sites. If you site contains large amounts of written content, one good rule of thumb is to insert one weblink for around each 75 words of text. Provide links to useful content, to other web sites you have, or to any of your marketing partners. It’s possible to bombard users with so many links that it can drive customers away, but including one every two paragraphs or so makes a web site appear to be connected to a larger online community. And if you are trying to work from home, it is essential to maintain a web-based network of clients and contacts, and to link them with your own web site where possible.
